With Fractured Crown right around the corner, let's go over some interactions that may stump players at first We'll go over interesting ruling quirks and erratas that may change the way you think of some of these FTC cards!

These notes and erratas can be found on the index, which has just been updated to include the new FTC cards!

Erratas

Erratas are used very sparingly in Grand Archive TCG, and should only be used to improve consistency in wording or correct errors made in templating. That said, there are four cards in FTC that slipped through our quality assurance process that require an errata. We will do our best to improve so that there are less erratas required in the future.
Intrepid Spearman
Formerly: "The first time attack damage would be dealt to Intrepid Spearman each turn, reveal a card at random from your memory. If that card is wind element, prevent 3 of that damage."

Errata: "If attack damage would be dealt to Intrepid Spearman, reveal a card at random from your memory. If that card is wind element, prevent 3 of that damage. Apply this replacement effect only once per turn."

Reasoning: With the way the former was worded, if the prevention effect was able to prevent all the damage that would be dealt, the next time damage would be dealt would still be considered the "first" time damage would be dealt that turn (which would apply this effect an additional time). This was not intended and calls for this errata.
Varuckan Soulknife
Formerly: "Return Varuckan Soulknife to your material deck."

Errata: "Put a card named Varuckan Soulknife from your banishment into your material deck."

Reasoning: With the way the former was worded, it specifically looks for the self referenced object on the field to return to the material deck. Because Varuckan Soulknife would likely be in the banishment after being used for an attack, it is no longer an object on the field and the triggered ability will fail to find itself (it is now a card in the banishment). This was not intended and calls for this errata.
Tithe Proclamation
Formerly: "Players can't draw more than three cards each turn unless it's their first turn of the game."

Errata: "Each player can't draw more than three cards each turn unless it's their first turn of the game."

Reasoning: With the way the former was worded, "Players" would refer to the collective group of all players in the game and would limit them from drawing more than three cards each turn collectively. The intention is that the cards drawn is tracked individually per player.
Viridian Protective Trinket
Errata: Removed the banishment cost, and now has the same ability staticly.

Reasoning: We messed up the templating of this card. Through the many design iterations of this card, one of those designs did have a banishment cost. However, it was supposed to be removed when it received this iteration of effect. We are planning a promotional version of this card to be released soon with the corrected text.

Ruling Notes

With FTC, there are several new mechanics explored which calls for interactions that players have not seen before in Dawn of Ashes. This section goes over some of those commonly confusing interactions. In addition, the rulebook was recently updated to reflect the FTC update.
Avatar of Gaia
1.) All instances of pride are removed.
Beastsoul Visage
1.) Multiple instances of pride on an ally are redundant. Only the highest pride instance on the ally matters.
Corhazi Arsonist
1.) If a unit hit by Corhazi Arsonist dies on the same turn, that unit is banished. This means that On Death effects won't trigger.
Covenant of Thorns
1.)The type of damage that gets redirected to the linked ally stays the same.
2.) If damage from an attack is redirected to the linked ally, On Hit and On Kill effects can still trigger with normal conditions.
Dawn of Ashes
1.) During the resolution of Dawn of Ashes' upkeep ability, if there are no cards in the controller's memory, then no card is revealed to check the element of and Dawn of Ashes won't be sacrificed.
Fractured Crown
1.) "Unique" ally refers to ally cards with the unique type, not ally cards with different names.
2.) Fractured Crown remains linked to the linked champion if that champion delevels.
Fracturize
1.) The target item or weapon loses all of its original types and subtypes.
2.) The target item or weapon retains its name and any stats that it has.
Frostbinder Apostle
1.) A unit without immortality with 0 or less life dies due to state based actions.
Frostbind
1.) If Frostbind negates an attack card, the combat phase never gets to begin. This means that On Attack effects will not trigger. The attacker remains rested if resting that unit was an additional cost of that attack card.
2.) The (2) in Frostbind's negate condition is a reserve cost, and can be paid by resting objects with reservable.
Gawain, Chivalrous Thief
1.) In Gawain's On Champion Hit effect, "that opponent" refers to the player that controls the hit champion.
Innervate Agility
1.) The additional cost of recover 5 means that there must be five damage counters to remove from your champion to pay this card's cost. If there are less than five damage counters on your champion, the additional cost can't be paid.
Innervate Fury
1.) The additional cost of recover 5 means that there must be five damage counters to remove from your champion to pay this card's cost. If there are less than five damage counters on your champion, the additional cost can't be paid.
2.) The targets and the amount of damage split to each target must be declared as Innervate Fury is being activated.
Innervate Knowledge
1.) The additional cost of recover 5 means that there must be five damage counters to remove from your champion to pay this card's cost. If there are less than five damage counters on your champion, the additional cost can't be paid.
Lancelot, Goliath of Aesa
1.) The (3) in Lancelot's On Attack ability is a reserve cost, and can be paid by resting objects with reservable.
Lurking Assailant
1.) Lurking Assailant's [Level 1+] ability allows it to retaliate against attackers even if that attacker isn't attacking Lurking Assailant. For example, if the opponent is attacking your champion with an ally, Lurking Assailant can retaliate. During that damage step, your champion will take damage from the attacking ally, and Lurking Assailant will deal damage to that attacking ally.
Parcenet, Royal Maid
1.) When you reveal a wind card from Parcenet's ability, there is a trigger to give another target ally stealth. This trigger is put on the stack and may be responded to.
Prismatic Sanctuary
1.) During the resolution of Prismatic Sanctuary's upkeep ability, if there are no cards in the controller's memory, then no card is revealed to check the element of and Prismatic Sanctuary won't be sacrificed.
Quicksilver Grail
1.) The face down banished by Quicksilver Grail has no properties. It has no name, types, effects, or stats. This means that effects that interact with cards in banishment that require seeing a certain property such as "Sword" subtype won't be able to interact with this face down card.
2.) The owner of the face down card may look at it at any time.
3.) When Quicksilver Grail is banished to play the face down banished card, you play that card using its default play type. If the card has a reserve cost, that card is activated. If the card has a memory cost, that card is materialized.
4.) The face down banished card being played still checks for elemental requirements and its costs must be paid.
Red Slime
1.) Red Slime's On Death ability looks at that object's last known power value before it left the field.
Resolute Stand
1.) If multiple effects have a player skip the same phase, that player must skip that phase multiple times. For example, if two Resolute Stands were activated by a player without paying its reserve cost due to its ability, that player skips their next two draw phases.
Slay the King
1.) When you play the banished card, you play that card using its default play type. If the card has a reserve cost, that card is activated. If the card has a memory cost, that card is materialized. 2.) The banished card being played still checks for elemental requirements and its costs must be paid.
Song of Frost
1.) When the combat phase ends abruptly due to Song of Frost, the combat phase clean up still happens. During this time, cards in intents are moved to the graveyard (they are not banished like activations on the stack).
Spirit of Serene Fire
1.) A card in a champion's inner lineage means it must be in that lineage, but not the top card of it.
Spirit of Serene Water
1.) A card in a champion's inner lineage means it must be in that lineage, but not the top card of it.
Spirit of Serene Wind
1.) A card in a champion's inner lineage means it must be in that lineage, but not the top card of it.
Tariff Ring
1.) The (2) in Tariff Ring's attack condition is a reserve cost, and can be paid by resting objects with reservable.
The Majestic Spirit
1.) Because The Majestic Spirit is a regalia, if it would be sent to the deck, memory, or hand, it is sent to its owner's material deck instead. If it would die, it is banished instead (On Kill effects won't trigger).
Varuckan Acolyte
1.) Varuckan Acolyte's On Enter ability does not specifically target a regalia that you don't control. This means that if you control the only regalia with memory cost 0, that regalia must be the target for this ability.
